Assam is a place of different cultures and languages. Here many communities, and sub-communities’ are living together. Different cultures assimilated together in Assam.

It has resulted from the long-drawn process of integrating numerous groups and communities, which can better be understood in the cultural and historical context of Assam. In the ancient period, common people expressed their feelings through simpler tunes, which are known as folk music. The Assamese people observed various calendar festivals, seasonal festivals, and limited participation festivals on different occasions. These festivals feature folk dance, music, drama, instrument playing, and other activities. The performing arts range from vocal and instrumental music, dance, theatre, mime, etc. These include numerous cultural expressions of people that reflect human creativity and are found in all cultural heritages among the people in the world.
